Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are now open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to fulfill the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home using a combined gross home earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined household profits isn't going to exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and wish not post any proof of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African read morensfas status citizens and permanent residents from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for every annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the right Identification Doc numbers, names, and surname, as reflected within their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are researching or intend to study at a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing nsfas application of their application.
